

Shotokan Karate is a Martial Art which combines both the hard and soft styles of karate developed on the Japanese island of Okinawa. Karate literally means 'empty' hand and is a form of unarmed self defense involving stances, blocks, kicks, and strikes.

Classes are open to children and adults of all ages and gender, 3 times a week: Monday (6:30-7:30PM), Wednesday (6:30-7:30PM), and Saturday (10:00-11:00AM).

Sensei Charles Allsopp
Sensei Charles Allsopp is a Godan (5th degree black belt) practitioner of Shotokan Karate. Charles Allsopp has won the Manitoba kumite (free sparring) competition four times and the Canadian Championship twice. Sensei Allsop was also a member of the Canadian team that placed fifth at the World Championships. Sensei Charles teaching methods combine traditional and contemporary theories and applications which provides a complete training regiment for Shotokan Karate. Senpai Andy Holik
Andy Holik currently holds the rank of Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) and has been training for more than 10 years. He brings to the Fort Garry Shotokan Karate Club a great wealth of experience in both the mental and physical aspects of the Martial Art. - Sensei Charles
